The Cudy FS1018PS1 is a 16-port Power-over-Ethernet (PoE+) unmanaged network switch designed for environments where multiple network devices (cameras, Wi-Fi access points, VoIP phones, etc.) need both data and power delivered over a single Ethernet cable. It’s built to simplify deployment — combining power delivery and network connectivity — eliminating the need for separate power adapters for each device.

Because it is “unmanaged,” there is no complicated configuration required. Plug and play makes it particularly appealing for small businesses, retail stores, offices, or surveillance setups who prefer simplicity over advanced network management.

⚙️ Key Specifications & Performance

  • Ports: 16 × PoE+ ports (10/100 Mbps), plus 2 × Gigabit RJ45 uplink ports and 1 × Gigabit SFP uplink slot — giving flexibility to connect to higher-speed backbone networks.

  • PoE Standards: Supports IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at — meaning it can supply up to 30 W per port, enough for most IP cameras, wireless access points, and VoIP phones.

  • Total Power Budget: Built-in power supply delivers a total power budget of around 190 W – 200 W (depending on variant) — adequate for powering many devices simultaneously.

  • Switching Capacity & Throughput: The switch offers a back-plane switching capacity of 7.2 Gbps and can handle typical Ethernet traffic rates (store-and-forward switching, auto MDI/MDIX, etc.).

  • Network Standards: Compatible with IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3ab, 802.3af, and 802.3at.

  • Physical Build: Metal casing for durability, suitable for desktop placement or rack mounting. Dimension is roughly 280 × 180 × 44 mm

  • Ease of Use: Unmanaged, plug-and-play — no configuration needed. LED indicators provide status for each port (link, activity, PoE).

  • Operating Modes: Supports default mode, VLAN mode (for isolating PoE ports), and Extend mode (for long-reach PoE up to 250 m in some variants).

🛠️ Practical Benefits & Use Cases

The FS1018PS1 is particularly well-suited for the following scenarios:

  • CCTV / IP-camera systems: Because it supports PoE+ and long cable runs (especially in Extend mode), it's ideal for powering multiple security cameras around a building — without needing separate power for each.

  • Wi-Fi access-point deployments: In offices, shops, or large homes, you can connect and power several wireless access points from one switch — simplifying cabling and power management.

  • VoIP phone systems: For offices using VoIP phones, FS1018PS1 can deliver both network connectivity and power, reducing clutter and per-device power adapters.

  • Small to medium business networks: For any business that needs multiple network devices (sensors, IoT devices, routers, cameras, terminals), this switch offers a cost-effective “all-in-one” solution.

  • Flexible network backbone: The two Gigabit uplink ports and one SFP slot allow connecting the switch to a higher-speed core or backbone — useful in larger or growing networks.

Because of its “unmanaged” nature, it's also a great fit if you prefer a “set-and-forget” approach: once connected, devices get power and data without manual configuration.

✅ Strengths & Advantages

  • Power + data over single cable: PoE+ support simplifies wiring, reduces clutter, and lowers installation cost/time.

  • High port density: 16 PoE ports allow you to connect many devices without needing multiple switches or external injectors.

  • Good power budget: Up to 30 W per port and ~200 W total supports power-hungry devices like PTZ cameras or access points.

  • Uplink flexibility: 2 Gigabit RJ45 + 1 SFP port help integrate into larger networks or allow fiber uplink for long-distance runs.

  • Ease of deployment: Unmanaged, plug-and-play design — no configuration, which helps in quick installations or when users are non-technical.

  • Metal build & rack-mountable: Durable housing suitable for permanent installations or rack setups.

  • Extended modes & port isolation: Extend mode for longer runs; VLAN/port isolation for security if needed.

⚠️ Limitations & What to Consider

  • Port speed limited to 10/100 Mbps (for PoE ports): While uplinks are gigabit, the 16 PoE ports operate at Fast Ethernet — potentially a bottleneck if you plan high bandwidth per port (e.g. high-res camera streams, large data transfers).

  • Unmanaged design: Lack of configuration flexibility — no advanced management, QoS, VLANs (beyond basic port isolation), bandwidth control or monitoring. For complex networks, this could be a drawback.

  • Shared total power budget: With 16 ports and ~200 W total — if many ports draw near 30 W simultaneously, you might reach the power limit. Need to plan power budget carefully based on connected devices.

  • Less ideal for very high-performance networks: Because PoE ports are only 100 Mbps, not suited for heavy data transfer, but sufficient for typical IP cameras, APs, or VoIP devices.

  • Basic feature set: No advanced management features (like SNMP, VLAN tagging, LACP, link aggregation, QoS, traffic shaping) — which may matter for larger or more complex deployments.
